System Programmer

SockMonkey are looking for experienced SYSTEM PROGRAMMERS to work on a number of projects, including licensed IP, and original games. Working as part of a team, and reporting to the Lead Programmer, responsibilities include programming game systems, solving technical problems and debugging. The ideal candidates are passionate about programming and games, work well as part of a team, and looking to join an exciting and growing studio.
LOCATION
As a studio, we are happy for staff to work remotely, hybrid or in the office depending on their preferred choice of work.
REQUIREMENTS
- Code in C++ engine-related items, and in API integration;
- Diagnose and solve common problems - such as load times, memory usage and performance problems;
- Act as system owner on Low level code and communicate around change's possible impacts;
- Write a clear, maintainable and well-documented code;
- Test carefully the newly implemented features and suggest improvements;
- Work closely with cross-discipline teams including programmers, designers, animators and artists;
- Keep updated on the latest technological trends;
- Follow team’s best practices such as code reviews.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- You have a strong skill in C++ programming and multithreading.
- You acquire experience in many different engineering areas with a special attention given to low-level code and deep optimization.
- You are well versed in software engineering principles, especially API design.
- You have a strong understanding of how a game engine work and of editor concepts.
- You are familiarity with development tools and profiling on modern systems, including PC, console and mobile.
- You love solving challenging technical problems and developing in a large codebase at a fast pace, keeping the right balance between usability, performance, and reliability.
- You are able to prioritize, plan, organize your work & time and work within deadlines.
- You have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
